WHY ARE YOU BEATING YOURSELF UP?

How many times have we said to ourselves “I am such an idiot?” or “Why am I such a mess?”  or called ourselves names that we shouldn’t?  Or even cussed ourselves out?  We need to stop condemning ourselves!

Jesus never came into the world to condemn the world but to save it.  Jesus said this in John 12:47 “for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.”

We are all here for a reason.  Sometimes the project we are working on did not come together as planned or was a failure.

In truth, there are no failures if we don’t stop.  There are no failures if we learn from the lessons.  There are only setbacks.  From those setbacks, we can learn the lessons and move forward.

If someone calls us a name, that is their opinion of us.  It is something we can’t control.  If the name is obscene or a bad name, that is on them and demonstrates their personality, which means it is on them and it is something they need to fix in themselves.  If it is something deserved, it is still on them because a Godly person does not use terms of condemnation to describe another person.  It may be something they see in themselves and are projecting on us, so pray for them.

We can still take inventory and if there is some truth in their observations of us, then let us change it and apologize for our actions.

As Christians, we don’t condemn because Jesus did not come to condemn us.

John 3:17 (NIV) states the following “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him”

He does not want you to feel condemned or ashamed.  That comes from a little wee thing named satan.  I don’t give him any special credit because his time ends and he will face his demise!  In all my blogs you will see satan’s name is not capitalized because he does not deserve any recognition or honor.

And all satan wants to do is make you feel condemned and ashamed.  He will come at you with attacks making you feel that you are not worthy of Jesus’ love or His forgiveness.  Little satan will make you feel like a hypocrite or a nothing.  Remember satan is the false god of lies.

Take a look at Jesus’ own words in Luke 19:10  (ESV) “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”  If Jesus did not love us He would not be searching for us to be with Him, to have a relationship with Him, and to restore your relationship with our God in Heaven.

John 5:24 (MEV) says the following “Truly, truly I say to you, whoever hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has eternal life and shall not come into condemnation, but has passed from death into life.”

Understanding this we have eternal life without condemnation “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” Romans 8:1 (NKJV).  Let me give it to you another way from a different translation (ESV) “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

Many of us put pressure on ourselves to be perfect.  There is only one perfect man and that is Jesus.  If anyone has a reason to expect perfection it is Jesus.  However, He does not expect perfection from us while we are on this earth.  We will fail.  He expects us to come to Him when we fail.  We are never more than one step away from returning to Jesus when we fail.  And we are not perfect.  We will be perfected when we arrive in Heaven and into the arms of our loving Father.  While we are in this broken world, we will not be perfect.  There is good news, God loves us even though we are imperfect.

Do you know why?  He created us in His image and with imperfections.  Those imperfections make us unique and different.  God loves variety and He loves You!  Remember and stop condemning yourself.  If there is something you need to ask forgiveness for, stop and ask forgiveness and He will forgive you.  If you messed up a project, start again but come from experience now.  If you fail at something, you have the experience and you are more valuable now.  And don’t forget that not only does God and Jesus love you, but so do your Brothers and Sisters in Christ.  And you are perfect to us and to Jesus just the way you are.  Please stop beating yourself up!  😊

If any of this has touched your heart and you want to have a relationship with Our Father and Our Lord Jesus Christ, and you want to spend eternity in Heaven and Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, or you feel you have backslidden and want to repent then please pray this prayer:

DEAR LORD, I KNOW I AM A SINNER.  I KNOW I HAVE HOPE IN JESUS.  I WANT TO REPENT OF MY SINS AND COME TO YOU TO ASK FORGIVENESS.  I WANT TO ASK YOU TO FORGIVE MY SINS, CLEANSE ME OF MY SINS, GIVE ME THE HOPE OF ETERNAL LIFE WITH JESUS, AND I WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE JESUS IS MY LORD AND SAVIOR AND HE GAVE HIS LIFE FOR ME.  I ASK THE HOLY SPIRIT TO COME INTO ME AS THE GUARANTEE OF MY SALVATION AND WANT TO REPENT OF MY SINS.  ALL THIS I ASK IN JESUS HOLY AND PRECIOUS NAME, AMEN

If you prayed that prayer then I want to say CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME TO THE FAMILY OF BELIEVERS.  The Angels, The Saints, The Lord Jesus, and all who have gone before us are having a party in Heaven because you chose Jesus.  And I want to welcome you to the family.  Find a good Bible-based church and continue to learn about Jesus.  We are all on this Journey together.  And in the end we will hear God say “Well Done my good and faithful servant!”

GREATER LOVE

Imagine the following headline on the news site that you follow:

LOCAL MAN SAVES LIFE OF CAREER CRIMINAL

Following that headline, you know the local man and he had the best character of anyone.  On occasion, that person woke up at 2 AM to help you or your spouse when their car broke down while you were out of town.  Not only did the car break down, it broke down on the rough side of town.  Regardless, he went and was able to repair the car.  While he was working on the car a group of gang members came to rob him, and he was able to convert them to Christianity.  This person helped many people and was probably a Medic, at-home garage mechanic, handyman, great husband, helped out at the church as often as he could, and was an all-around great guy.  He had the reputation that he would give a person the coat he was wearing on a cold day if he knew you or not.  Now he died saving this person’s life.  What kind of impact would that have on you?  What kind of impact would it have on that person if they had hit rock bottom and were asking for a sign from God?

Would you say he was a person who would give his life for his friends?  Or for anyone who did not deserve it?  And how would we be compared to a person like this?  What if this was the example of the character of Jesus in the modern age?

“Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.”  John 15:13 (NASB)

This scripture has been running around in my mind for a week now.  And I keep thinking of all the ways Jesus demonstrated His love to us – especially while He was on the cross.  At the time a person would be bitter, angry, and hurting, but He still showed us how to love.

“But I say to you, love your enemies. Pray for those who hurt you. If you do this, you will be true children of your Father in heaven.”  Matthew 5:44-45a

Jesus prayed for those who were ridiculing him on the cross.  He prayed for the Pharisees and the Romans.  In Luke 23:34 (NKJV) the Bible records the following “Then Jesus said, “Fatherforgive them, for they do not know what they do.”  He prayed and forgave.  Which leads to the next thing he did on the cross.  He Forgave!

In Luke 6 (NLT), at the end of verse 37, He tells us “Forgive others, and you will be forgiven.”  All throughout the Gospels Jesus tells us to forgive.  The best verse about forgiveness is in Matthew 6:15 (NKJV) “But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”  He prayed on the cross that God would forgive those who were murdering him.

Jesus demonstrated the ultimate act of brotherly love, phileo love in Greek, when he forgave the person on the cross.  I hesitate to call him the thief on the cross.  Thieves rarely received the sentence of crucifixion.  This person was probably an insurrectionist.  His name is Dismas.  Gesmas was the person who was ridiculing him.  Dismas admonished Gesmas and then asked Jesus to remember him in the afterlife.  The conversation was recorded in Luke 23:42-43 (NASB) “And he was saying, “Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom!”  And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”  Jesus offered forgiveness and demonstrated His new command He left with the Disciples recorded in John 13:34-35 (NIV):“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”   On the cross, in excruciating pain and near death he showed love and forgiveness for many people.

A final act of love from Jesus to his mother is recorded in John 19:26 – 27 (ESV) in which He arranged for His mother’s care after his death, resurrection, and ascension.  This is John’s account of the exchange: “When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.”

On the cross, in pain, dehydrated, with extreme blood loss, probably close to passing out, He still showed love.  He could’ve called ten thousand angels to vanquish Him, but He chose to fulfill His purpose on earth, and that was to be the perfect sin sacrifice, to remove sin from us and place it on Him.  He chose to fulfill His Father’s purpose and is now seated at the right hand of God.  He gave Himself as the ultimate sacrifice, in utter humiliation, and still chose to love us.  He chose to love a person like me.  And the awesome thing is that He loves you too!  Why not return that love and accept Him as your personal Lord and Savior?  And show that same love to others?  I know if all of us lived the same example as Jesus, this world would be better and would be Heaven on earth.  Give Jesus a chance to change your life and be Love.

I will leave you with one final verse and hope it stirs up love in you:

“And so we know the love that God has for us, and we trust that love.

God is love. Those who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.”

I AM STILL HERE AND STILL FIGHTING

I know I have been out of touch for a while, but I am back and will be more consistent.
God tells us we will go thru Trials in our lives. We will also face suffering. 1 Peter 1: 6 (NASB) states: “In this, you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials,” and Jesus told us John 15:20 (NAAB) “Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours also.”

I have not been suffering persecution but have been going through a trial and should’ve kept posting. For that, I do apologize and will be more consistent.
We need to keep our eyes on Jesus even during times of trials and in good times. Someone once told me that we are either going through a trial, coming out of a trial, or in between trials getting ready to go into a new trial. In all those times we need to keep our eyes on Jesus.

In the good times, we need to keep praying, having our quiet/devotional time with Jesus, and spending time with the Lord. We need to make this a habit. When the trials and/or suffering come, and they will come, we already have our foundation set so that we can maintain our relationship with Jesus.

Jesus gives us strength to overcome those trials. Jesus tells us in Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT) “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”” We don’t have to carry the heavy load on our own. Jesus will help us carry it.

Years ago I had a personal situation occur and I felt the weight of the situation deeply. However, once I surrendered to Jesus and finally surrendered the problem to him I felt the peace of Christ, and the weight was lifted. Friends approached me asking me how I was carrying this heavy load and be at peace. I responded that I gave the situation to Jesus and He is carrying the load. I am along for the ride.

We need to keep that in mind and that is a lesson I have to keep reminding myself. Jesus is with me and He will carry the weight for me. Once we remember that then we can surrender the anxiety and the stress and live the joy-filled life Jesus promises.
Remember, happiness is dependent on circumstances, but joy comes from the Lord. Joy is dependent on our relationship with our lord Jesus Christ.

Give all your burdens to Him and let him carry them for you. He means it when He says “Come to Him all who are weary and carry heavy burdens, because He (Jesus) will give you rest. Take Jesus’ yoke upon you. Let Jesus show you because He is humble and gentle in heart, and you WILL find rest for your souls. Jesus yoke is easy and His burden is light.” Jesus burden is no burden at all. It is a great way to live because we are assured of Joy, Peace, and Eternal Life.
Come to Him, He is waiting.

If any of this has touched your heart and you want to have a relationship with Our Father and Our Lord Jesus Christ, and you want to spend eternity in Heaven and Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, or you feel you have backslidden and want to repent then please pray this prayer:
